The Canadian Psychoanalytic Society’s Citation of Merit recognizes distinguished and enduring contributions by members to their profession. Three principal areas of contribution and leadership are considered in bestowing this important award. Recipients are recognized for their substantial achievements in at least one of these key areas:
- Long-standing and dedicated service to the administration of the national organization and its branches;
- Significant achievement in the scientific field of psychoanalysis reflected in a record of outstanding scholarship;
- Major contributions to the practice of psychoanalysis through teaching, service and clinical leadership that has greatly enhanced the professional identity of psychoanalysis in Canada.
The following guidelines apply:
- Each member is entitled to nominate one colleague per year for the Citation of Merit.
- Nominations must be submitted by individual members only, and not by Branches.
- Each nomination requires endorsement by nine other members, for a total of TEN nominators. The nominator needs only to list those members who have agreed to stand in support of the nomination.
Deadline for submissions is April 30 in the year in which it is awarded.
